a figure of unmotivated evil, moral transgression and diabolical perversity...

Yah yah, i too have no idea what came over me. I recently delved into the comic scene again and picked up the first two Uncanny X-force graphic novels, felt especially nostalgic and looking to reconnect with the soap opera superhero saga and this was recommended to me by everyone. And how could i resist? It collected my favourite X-men characters(sans Cable) into one team. I actually only lightly perused it, but it looks great so far.

Anyway, moleskine sketch. Was fun! Thinking of drawing cable next...

Also LJ, i havent given up on you yet!

Thought you guys might be interested in this. Those who have been following me for years will recognise the style here. back in 2004 i made a short teaser comic called two black eyes. Heres a link to the 9 page deal. Well i always intended to continue it, i began working on it in full force, producing much more detailed work than the previous output. But then i got distracted and eventually, these four pages were completely forgotten. Doomed to be buried, until 6(almost 7) years later. Seeing as i'll never complete the comic this way i figure its fine for you guys to see it. I really hold these dear to my heart.

page10 small

This page specifically, is one of my favourite comic pages i've ever done, i was so proud of it, cant believe i never posted it.

two more pages...Collapse )

My recent nostalgia directed me to my old characters, Sherrif and the gang. Reflecting over my old entries i realised how much my aesthetic has changed and how much i miss drawing the way i used to.

Hello? Is there anybody out there? Just nod if you can hear me!

Seriously though, i was just going through my old entries today and i totally welled up. Are people still using Livejournal? Are my neglected buddies still around for encouragement and great advice? I want a time machine to take me back to 2007.

oh and an image:

Miss you guys, livejournal of 2007. Fuck twitter.

Hello! To celebrate the unproven demise of a bearded man, i decided to post my recent art activities and other affiliated informations.

First is from a project im working on getting off the ground, Wonderlost. You've seen a few arts previously helming this Moniker. It features Reginald, an ongoing character who loitered in my previous two comics. This is not so much a sequel to anything(i realise i dont seem to like making those) but an adjacent story that runs parallel to The legend of Dorian Sanchez, possibly ducking and weaving through it. I have alot of the designing done and I am now fleshing and fluffing up the story. I had originally intended to have it made on a page by page(making it up as i go along) basis like farewell reginald but i'd rather the story be a bit fuller. Maybe i'll leave a little room for improvisation.

Osama Art LadenCollapse )

Yesterday I joined the roster for something I'm really excited about, the project Mega 2.0! Project Mega is a custom vinyl toy event that brings together 100 international artists together to each create something unique. it was the first of its kind in the middle east and i'm proud to be invited into this artistic hootenanny. Heres a great little write up announcing my participation.
Also, im finally a fully fledged driver. Took longer than i expected, thanks to certain bit of corruption that resulted in a lighter wallet. I'm really bloody enjoying it, i didnt imagine i would feel quite as free as i do. Now i find myself picking up everyone and driving people around just for the sake of it. I'm looking into buying a nice wrangler soon, but right now my rented toyota Yaris will do me fine.

New sketch.
I passed a few driving related tests last week which means i can legally park my car(parallel and otherwise) and stop and start my car on a hill. Exciting. For tomorrow, i have my signal test which looks to be pretty simple, my guide book actually contains all the questions and answers, which only clock in at about 20. I have to answer 10. The speedy progress means that in two weeks i should be ready for the road.
I'm branching out more into graphic design and even typography recently, the results will be posted soon. The designs are for my website which i also hope to update very soon.
I havent done this in a very long time but i feel a fan art piece coming up, for the Coen brother's True Grit. I loved the hell out of that film, i cant recall the last time i went to the cinema and experienced watching such rich characters. Its good to see Barry Pepper out there, such an underrated actor.

Playing around with graphite and washes here.

Exciting stuff since the last entry. I'm learning to parallel park, i say learning but since we're using poles and polystyrene cups instead of stationary cars i have to use my imagination to visualise actual cars. I found that amusing, but i'm not so sure how well it will translate to actual real life parallel parking.
I'm a quarter of the way through my driving lessons and i'm pretty confident. The only things that still worry me are changing lanes, too much coordination is involved and being on very large carriage ways like Sheik Zayed Road.
In a nerdish move, i skipped ladies night yesterday to upgrade my netbook to 2gb ram and windows 7. I had to borrow a screwdriver so that i can get to the memory module only for it to strip the screw which prompted me to use a giant power drill. I think using the drill negated the nerd factor. Or the nerd factor negated the manly act of drilling. innuendo not intended.

Oh the vanity. im deliberating leaving the image the way it is or adding more to it, i have a habit of overworking images and maybe its just nice to keep it simple.
Can't wait for my driving lesson tomorrow, lets hope that this guy can actually speak at an volume that doesnt require blindness to hear.

Doodle from my desk. I spend the majority of my time doodling at work, trying to jog some creativity for the stuff i have to do. Not entirely sure it works since i end up exploring my personal ideas more and wanting to work on those instead.
I had my first driving lesson on thursday and it pretty overwhelming. I've driven in an empty parking lot before but never on the streets. The driving aspect isnt hard, but the coordination is a bitch, having to watch mirrors periodically felt like that one extra element that wasn't intuitive. I enjoyed it, except for the part when i almost ran over a cat. My next session is on Tuesday and im pretty psyched.
Payday in 5 days, i need to sort out my mini studio(get couch and shelves) and finally buy some art supplies, im looking to paint some shit soon.
Second blog post in a space of a week, im excited!
